A major injury has struck the Pittsburgh Steelers ' 2025 NFL Draft class, as a versatile rookie who returned to practice after three months on injured reserve, will now miss the remainder of the season.
On Friday, Steelers Senior Director of Communications Burt Lauten reported that seventh-round rookie CB Donte Kent , who returned to practice on December 3rd off injured reserve, suffered a new setback and will miss the rest of the 2025 season.
Limited in practice on Wednesday , Kent suffered a new knee injury in addition to the ankle injury he sustained in August.
Selected with the 229th pick in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Kent played at Central Michigan for five seasons as both a return specialist and cornerback, playing in 53 games — setting his school record with 47 pass breakups.
An electric returner and a solid depth option for Pittsburgh, Kent will hopefully recover in time to compete for a roster spot this offseason, but the severity of his injury remains to be seen.
