The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed undrafted free agent cornerback Tamon Lynum from Pitt, who was brought in for a tryout at rookie minicamp. He's wearing No. 42.
With playing at Pitt, Lynum felt like he was in his own backyard at Steelers rookie minicamp.
"I feel comfortable," Lynum said at rookie minicamp. "I feel the same. It's just on the other side of the building now. So that's all, but I feel very comfortable being back here. This is like my second home."
Lynmun, who stands at 6-foot-2. 195 pounds, takes pride in his physicality.
"I'll say my biggest strength would be uh my physicality and my size," Lynum said. "You know, I'm six two one ninety five and I can move good. So I'll say my size and my physicality for sure.
Lynum played three of his five seasons of college football at Nebraska before transferring to Pitt ahead of the 2024 season.
In his six-year college career, Lynum played in 46 games, recording 71 tackles, 45 of which were solos, two sacks, two interceptions, eight passes defended and two forced fumbles.
"It's a blessing, man," Lynum said on receiving a tryout from the Steelers. "So thankful, thanking God every day. You know, just staying prayed up because this is what you do. Like this is what you play football for. This is what you chase the dream of, you know, being in the NFL."
Lynmun has took the first step in accomplishing that dream by earning a spot on the Steelers' roster. He joins former Michigan center Greg Crippen as the only other rookie tryout to make the team.
