The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed tight end Jaheim Bell, the the team announced on Monday, after he was waived by the Philadelphia Eagles last week.
Bell, 24, spent part of last season on the Pittsburgh practice squad. He had his practice squad contract with the Steelers expire at the of the 2025 season and he became a free agent before singing with the Eagles. Now, he'll return to the Steelers.
Bell is a 6-foot-2, 241-pound tight end, on the smaller side of the position, but Bell is a quality athlete, positing a 35-inch vertical and a 4.61-second 40-yard dash in pre-draft testing for a Relative Athletic Score of 8.44 out of 10, during pre-draft testing coming out of Florida State.
Bell also has positional versatility, having lined up as an inline tight end, slot receiver and fullback over the course of his career.

Bell spent his rookie season with the New England Patriots, who took him in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft. With the Pats, he played in total of 84 offensive snaps at all three positions, and he also played on four phases of special teams. He appeared in 15 games and made two catches for 20 yards on the season.
After spending another offseason in New England, Bell was released by the Patriots in August 2024. He spent one week on the Eagles practice squad in October before being released and signing with the Steelers.
Bell spent three seasons at South Carolina before transferring to Florida State in 2023. As a redshirt junior with the Seminoles, he caught 39 passes for 503 yards and two touchdowns.
The Steelers have five other tight ends on the active roster in Pat Freiermuth , Darnell Washington , JJ Galbreath , Lake McRee and Chamon Metayer , along with 2026 NFL Draft fifth-round pick Riley Nowakowski , who will primarily play fullback, but was a tight end in college.
