The Pittsburgh Steelers have elevated cornerbacks Tre Flowers and D'Shawn Jamison from their practice squad to their active roster for Monday night's Wild Card playoff game against the Houston Texans , the team announced on Monday.
Steelers chose to bring the duo up, even though all 53 players on the active roster have a clean bill of health entering Monday's game. They will have six players that will be scratched for them game as a result, up from the usual four.
Jamison has been recalled for the fourth time this season. He was brought up the maximum number of three times in the regular season. Teams have unlimited elevations in the postseason.
In his three previous games — on Nov. 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals and the last two weeks at the Cleveland Browns and vs. the Baltimore Ravens– Jamison has played a total of 11 snaps, all on special teams. He's worked on kick and punt coverage and on kick return, running back one kick for 20 yards.

Jamison, 26, first signed to the Steelers practice squad on Sep. 17, 2024. He spent the entire season on the practice squad and signed a reserve/future contract with the team at the end of last season.
Jamison played well this preseason, recording eight tackles, one for a loss, one quarterback hit and one forced fumble, but it wasn't enough to earn him a spot on Pittsburgh's 53-man roster. He was signed to the practice squad shortly after being released.
Jamison was an undrafted free agent out of the 2023 NFL Draft but signed with the San Francisco 49ers shortly after. He was with the club up until being waived on cut-down day.
He was then claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers the next day and was with them up until being waived on Aug. 29, 2024. Jamson played in 15 games and started two for the Panthers in 2023. He finished the season with five tackles, three of them solo stops, and one pass defended while playing mostly in the slot.
Jamison was a standout at Texas, appearing in 60 games, starting 40 of them. He started as a wide receiver before moving to cornerback, where he recorded 139 tackles, 109 of them solo stops, six tackles for a loss, 23 passes defensed, two fumble recoveries, one sack and one forced fumble. At his Texas pro day, he ran an impressive 4.51 40-yard dash.
He also ranks fourth all-time in UT history in career kick returns (54) and kick return yards (1,435). He was a 2022 preseason watch list candidate for the Paul Hornung Award and was named preseason second-team All-Big 12 by Phil Steele in 2022 at defensive back and punt returner.

Flowers was waived from the team's active roster on Monday, cleared waivers on Tuesday, and was re-signed to the practice on Wednesday.
Flowers was initially signed to the Steelers' 53-man active roster on Christmas Day, taking the roster spot of wide receiver DK Metcalf . Metcalf was reinstated from his suspension on Monday, and the team has a full 53-man roster entering the postseason.
Flowers, a 6-foot-3, 203-pound cornerback, appeared in one game for the Steelers, against the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 28, playing on two snaps of special teams.Before his time with the Steelers, has been with the practice squads of the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions this season, playing in two games with Detroit in October.
Originally a fifth-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks out of Oklahoma State in 2018, Flowers spent his four seasons in Seattle. He started as a rookie for the Seahawks in 2018 and 2019, before losing his starting job in the 2020 season. His best statistical year came in 2019, when he recorded 82 tackles, two for a loss, two quarterback hits, eight passes defended, three interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
In 2021, Flowers was claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals, and spent two seasons with the Bengals, primarily serving as specialist defender, covering tight ends. He signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons in 2023, spending the entire season there.
In 2024, he split time between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts, appearing in a total of five games.
