- Steph Curry Had Mixed Feelings About WNBA Star Using His Signature Move Against Valkyries

After defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves in their backyard, Steph Curry heaped praise on the host's sister team and all its players. However, the Golden State Warriors point guard also admitted it was "bittersweet" to see Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride hit his signature "Night Night" move against the Golden State Valkyries on his home turf.
Several Lynx players, including McBride, Olivia Miles, and Maya Caldwell, were at Target Center on October 28, 2026, to watch Curry's Warriors take on the Timberwolves. After beating Minnesota at the latter's home, Curry was spotted courtside taking pictures with the Lynx players , who got their jerseys signed by the NBA star.
During the postgame conference, Curry couldn't stop praising the WNBA and the Lynx, especially Miles and McBride, saying he watches all their games whenever he can and that "they had a hell of a year." He also noted that the W as a whole is in a great spot in terms of talent across the league, and said, "Minnesota was a one seed that played well all year."
After praising rookie MVP candidate Miles, Curry talked about McBride, who hit his signature "Night Night" celebration during an August 2026 game at Chase Center. After hitting a clutch, dagger three-pointer against the Golden State Valkyries, she did Curry's trademark "Night Night" gesture (resting her head on her hands) right in "The Bay." After the game, McBride even admitted that Curry is her favorite player, making the tribute a special "shooter paying homage" moment in his own backyard.
Speaking of the moment, Curry told reporters on Wednesday, "So we were joking she gave the 'Night Night' in Valhalla, which was bittersweet for me as a fan, like that was pretty dope. But it was against, you know, our team (Valkyries), so we had some jokes about that."
The three-pointer was McBride's 830th career made three-pointer, surpassing Becky Hammon for the fourth-most in WNBA history. The Lynx went on to defeat the Valkyries 77-66 in that game at Chase Center. Curry was still appreciative of the talent that the women in W had been showcasing all season.
"I appreciate, you know, talent and what they're doing for the game and being a fan of basketball all around. It was cool. I didn't know they were coming," Curry added.
The Warriors point guard also highlighted McBride's WNBA single-game record, which she set on August 9, 2026, with 10 three-pointers against the Dallas Wings.
Meanwhile, Warriors' sister team, the Valkyries, are in Atlanta to take on the Atlanta Dream for Game Six of the 2026 WNBA Finals. With a 3-2 series lead, the Valkyries are one win away from sealing their first-ever championship title. Although fans won't get an evening tipoff for the do-or-die game on October 29, 2026, the teams can expect a massive crowd at State Farm Arena at 12.30 p.m. E.T.
Game Six faced scheduling challenges because the Atlanta Hawks will host the Cleveland Cavaliers in the same venue on the same night. Fan frustration has grown over the Finals environment since the timing of Game Six was announced, given the Dream are 4-1 at home in the playoffs and have drawn massive crowds.
Nevertheless, both the Valkyries and the Dream have been pretty evenly matched through the first five games of the best-of-seven series. It's been all about defense until now, with the total in Game Six sitting at 147.5 after both teams failed to reach 70 points in back-to-back games.
The Valkyries are on track to win a title in only their second season as a WNBA franchise. Atlanta is the only thorn in their way, and it will try to force a Game Seven.
