Steph Curry's MRI Shows No Serious Injury; Day-to-Day Status for Next Game
Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry was not able to finish Friday’s game against the Detroit Pistons . The former back-to-back MVP left the contest in the third quarter after sustaining a knee injury. Curry was seen limping to the locker room as he left the playing court.
The 12-time All-Star finished with 23 points on 7-of-16 shooting, one rebound, two assists, a block and four triples in 25 minutes of action. The Warriors lost, 131-124, marking their second loss in three games.
Curry underwent an MRI on his knee on Saturday. The Warriors have revealed the test results, and it's good news for the 11-time All-NBA guard.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr remained optimistic after Friday’s loss. Kerr said that he did not think Curry suffered a “major” injury and that he believes the 6-foot-2 point guard “will be okay.”
An important update on Curry’s knee injury surfaced on Saturday. The Warriors got the results of the 37-year-old MRI, and the good news is that there is no serious cause for concern.
The official diagnosis on Curry is right knee soreness . The Warriors said that he is day-to-day. At this point, there is still a chance that Curry will be able to suit up for Golden State’s next game, which is on Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers .
Curry and the Warriors have dodged a bullet here. Kerr was right in predicting that it was not a serious injury for their cornerstone superstar. The fact that he’s being listed as day-to-day is definitely a good sign.
Nevertheless, there is still a significant chance that Curry will miss Tuesday’s game against the Sixers. If he sits out, more minutes should be available for Brandin Podziemski and Pat Spencer .
Curry is currently averaging 27.2 points on 46.8% shooting, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.1 steals in 31.3 minutes per game. He is also knocking down a league-best 4.5 triples per contest on a 39.1% clip.
