Sophie Cunningham has enjoyed a solid 2026 season with the Indiana Fever so far and could end the year with an award.
The Fever recently put Cunningham up for the Sixth Player of the Year award and she is currently averaging 8.3 points per game, which is the fourth-best on the team.
Now, Indiana Fever have shared comments from coach Stephanie White explaining what makes Sophie 'important' to their team.

In quotes shared on Fever's official website this week, White outlined how 'having somebody who can come in and stretch the floor' and who has 'the versatility to play multiple positions is important'.
White stated: "Her ability to make shots and put points on the board has been big. She gives us a little bit of a different look.
"We've got, in our starting lineup, players who can put points on the board, certainly, and so having somebody who can come in and stretch the floor the way that Sophie can, who can give us the versatility to play multiple positions is important."
Cunningham is now in the midst of a short break due to the FIBA World Cup taking place, but she is expected to once again be a key figure for her side when the WNBA returns later this month.
The Fever have already secured a playoff place and will now have one eye on winning the WNBA Finals later this year.
