In a recent report , Foot Marseille stated that Sunderland are eyeing a January move for Olympique Marseille winger Igor Paixão. It has been mentioned that the Black Cats are planning to get a deal done for the Brazilian wide player in the winter transfer window.
Paixao has caught the eye at times with his performances on the left side of Marseille's attack this season. The Brazilian talent has participated in ten matches for the French outfit in this campaign so far, scoring two goals and earning one assist in various competitions.
The 26-year-old is currently one of the most talented wingers in Ligue 1. Hence, Sunderland would do well to get a deal over the line for him this January.
His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for the Black Cats to sign him on a cut-price deal in 2027.

Paixao is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out on the flanks. He has the eye to play some decisive passes in and around the opposition penalty area and can shoot the ball with power from long range.
The Brazilian wide player can chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his side. Paixao is primarily a left-winger but can also serve as a right-sided wide player or play in the number ten position if asked to do so. However, there are some concerns on whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Black Cats manage to sign him next year.
We can expect Paixao to bring more quality and depth to Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris' frontline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Stadium of Light.
At 26, Paixao has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent fit for the Wearside club's needs in 2027. Therefore, Le Bris would be wise to go all out to sign him soon.
