Super Bowl champion Alshon Jeffery arrested over fraud scandal
Former NFL champion Alshon Jeffery is facing serious charges stemming from a felony insurance fraud case in California.
Jeffery played a major role in the 2017 Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles after knocking off the New England Patriots . The former NFL wide receiver recorded a touchdown and 73 yards during the Eagles’ first NFL title in the Super Bowl era.

TMZ is reporting that the former Eagles star was arrested Wednesday stemming from the alleged fraud. Jeffery’s release from jail came later that day after he was initially booked at the police station.

Jeffery is accused of running a felony insurance fraud scheme that carries five-year prison sentence in California. Meanwhile, he’s also allegedly been busted for failing to disclose insurance benefit or payment.
It’s unclear what Jeffery’s future holds as the case is examined further.
Former NFL star faces major fraud case
The 2012 NFL Draft pick was selected by the Chicago Bears before going on to win the Super Bowl with Philadelphia years later. Jeffery’s college career at South Carolina made him a standout receiver prior to entering the NFL.

The 36 year old is a former All-American and All-SEC talent that went on to go in the second round of the draft. Jeffery even has his number one jersey with the Gamecocks retired after three standout college seasons.
However, Jeffery will likely always been known best for his role in Philadelphia’s stunning Super Bowl win over Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Nick Foles , Jeffery and the Eagles managed to squeak out a dramatic 41-33 win against New England after ending the team’s NFL title drought.
The Eagles’ last NFL championship before their first Super Bowl came in 1960, which was one of the longest droughts. Meanwhile, the Eagles went on to win their second Super Bowl in 2023 with Jalen Hurts leading the way.
