🚨 Who takes over now? Gladbach and Polanski part ways
Gladbach endured an absolute nightmare start to the new Bundesliga season.
After some downright embarrassing defeats against RB Leipzig , promoted side Elversberg, and SC Freiburg , the Foals find themselves after three matchdays with zero points and 12 (!) goals conceded.

And this botched start to the football year has consequences: It has just been confirmed that Borussia Mönchengladbach are sacking their coach. Eugen Polanski is no longer in charge on the Rhine. His assistant coach Tobias Trulsen also has to go.
"Until a new head coach is found, the team will initially be looked after on an interim basis by Jan-Moritz Lichte. He will be supported by Markus Gellhaus and the coaching staff," the Foals said in their press release.
"Despite a good pre-season and positive signs, the team has not managed to achieve the desired results in the Bundesliga," explained sporting director Rouven Schröder. "The performances shown recently led to the decision to relieve Eugen of his duties with immediate effect. Eugen is a true Borusse through and through. We thank him, and Tobias Trulsen as well, for their commitment to Borussia."

That does not really come as a surprise, coming immediately after the final whistle and after there was no clear commitment to continuing the partnership — neither from the coach himself nor from sporting director Rouven Schröder.
On top of that, the start to the season has been even worse than that of his predecessor Gerardo Seoane. Last year, he had to go after taking just one point from the first three matches. The day before his dismissal, there was a home thrashing against Werder Bremen — Gladbach lost 0-4 at the time.
Seoane had to go, Polanski initially stepped in as an interim solution and was later promoted to head coach. Polanski has now suffered the same fate — with the only difference being that he lost his last game against Freiburg by one more goal.
Speaking on his departure, Polanski said: "Borussia Mönchengladbach was and remains my club. That is why it hurts so incredibly much that things have come to this. After successfully staying up, we changed quite a few things for this season. We had a lot planned, but we were unable to put it into practice. I'm sorry for that. I very much hope Borussia turn things around quickly. I wish the club, the team, and all the wonderful fans nothing but the best. Thank you for our time together."

At the same time as the disastrous performances on the pitch, the mood in the Foals' camp also does not seem particularly rosy. Most recently, captain Tim Kleindienst made headlines with a frustrated interview.
Whoever takes over the club now has a tough job ahead of them.
