- TCU Tight End Gamble Could Decide the Frogs’ 2026 Offense
TCU football 's biggest offensive mystery isn't at quarterback, running back or wide receiver.
It's hiding in a tight end room that produced almost nothing last season and now must become a central piece of Gordon Sammis' new system.

DJ Rogers and Chase Curtis are gone after giving the Horned Frogs dependable production and blocking in 2025. Rogers delivered a career-best 319 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Curtis provided veteran stability.
Their replacements combined for only four catches and 37 yards.
That's a massive leap of faith for an offense expected to use more two-tight-end formations.
Ka'Morreun Pimpton appears to have the first opportunity to seize the job. The 6-6 North Crowley product spent much of spring practice with the first-team offense and developed early chemistry with new quarterback Jaden Craig.

Pimpton's 2025 résumé consists of one reception, but at least he made it count. His lone catch was a touchdown against Baylor before injuries derailed most of his season.
He briefly considered entering the transfer portal before choosing to return.
That decision could become one of TCU 's most important offseason wins. Pimpton's frame, hands and catch radius make him an obvious red-zone threat, especially for a quarterback making his first full season as the starter.
Lafayette Kaiuway is the room's most experienced option, though "experienced" is being used generously. He caught three passes for 33 yards and a touchdown in 10 games last season.

Kaiuway may be the safest all-around choice because he can block, run and threaten defenses vertically. He doesn't need to become a star, but TCU desperately needs him to become reliable.
Sophomore Mason Peterson also enters the competition after spending last season primarily on special teams. Junior college transfer Nacari Ashley could be the wild card.
Ashley arrived with legitimate recruiting buzz and enough upside to force his way into the rotation immediately.
Freshman Braden Bach brings size and toughness, although a redshirt season remains possible.
The question isn't whether TCU has talent. It's whether any of these players can become trustworthy before the season opener against North Carolina in Dublin on Aug. 29.

Pimpton has the best combination of size, opportunity and offensive fit. Kaiuway should still earn significant snaps, especially if Sammis follows through on his plan to feature multiple tight ends.

Replacing Rogers and Curtis won't require one player to dominate. It'll require the entire room to grow up quickly.
TCU opens fall camp July 29. By then, the tight ends won't have anywhere left to hide.
