Tennessee forward to miss remainder of 2025-26 basketball season
Tennessee junior forward Cade Phillips will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 basketball season due to a recurring shoulder injury, Vols' head coach Rick Barnes announced Monday.
Phillips, who started nine of Tennessee's first 10 games, will have season-ending surgery to repair his shoulder.
"We will sincerely miss having Cade on the court and he is certainly disappointed that he won't be able to play the rest of the regular season, but it's essential he gets healthy," Barnes said. "Cade did all he could to play through this injury as long as possible.
"We love Cade and we'll do everything we can to support him. We know Cade will continue (to) help us this year, even from the sideline, because that is the type of person and teammate that he is."
Phillips averaged 3.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game, while playing 16.9 minutes per contest. His .654 field goal percentage is tied for No. 13 in the SEC among players with 25-plus attempts.
A 6-foot-9, 221-pound native of Jacksonville, Alabama, Phillips has appeared in 61 games during three seasons with the Vols. Tennessee is 64-20 throughout his career. Phillips is averaging 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game during his college career.
