The Houston Texans have been urged to get things done with CJ Stroud. But what is the young quarterback willing to accept ? Whatever the case is, Stroud's contract rumors hit a wall with the general manager's response.

Nick Caserio responded to the report about Stroud turning down an extension that would have paid him $50 million, according to a post on X by Luis Ortiz.
"I'm not gonna comment on anything contractually," Caserio said. "We've never done that before. We've had good discussions, I'd say, with his representatives. Like we do with a lot of different players. So, at some point there's an agreement put in place, great. If not, then it's something we'll probably address in the offseason."

Texans QB CJ Stroud waiting to get paid
The Texans have worked with Stroud, trying to get a deal ironed out. They picked up Stroud's fifth-year option for 2027 in April. So there's not much of a rush for the organization to pay him.

Stroud said he's not going to focus on the business end of his career when the season is drawing near , according to ESPN.
"You have to keep the main thing the main thing," Stroud said on July 29. "You have to just focus on one day at a time, one play. And the football is what's gotten me to even have the conversation, to be able to get a second contract. I have to focus on football."
It does seem a little odd that Stroud would turn away from the $50 million offer , according to Sports Illustrated.
"Five quarterbacks are making $51 to $53 million a season," Jared Koch wrote. "And five are making $55 million a season: Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence, and Matt Stafford. Just two creep into that $60 million-plus range: Patrick Mahomes and Dak Prescott."

While Stroud may be able to match playoff numbers with Prescott, he's not in the Mahomes conversation.
