Things were looking a little bleak for the Texas Longhorns when the NCAA transfer portal opened last week. With two dozen departures and some early misses on portal prospects, social media was buzzing with freaked out Longhorns fans. But one great weekend can make a big difference. According to 247Sports , Texas now has the No. 1 transfer portal class in America.
Texas signed one of the biggest names in the portal on Sunday in Auburn wide receiver Cam Coleman . Texas beat out Alabama , Texas Tech and Texas A&M . The former five-star recruit has two more years of eligibility, but will probably enter the NFL draft after the 2026 season.
Coleman has been the Tigers primary playmaker for two season with 93 receptions for 1,306 yards, 13 touchdowns and stellar 14 yards per catch. In 2025, Coleman had 56 grabs for 708 yards, five touchdowns and averaged 12.6 yards per catch.
The Longhorns also signed flipped talented running back Hollywood Smothers of NC State from Alabama to Texas. Smothers originally committed to Alabama on Monday, but has changed his mind after just six days. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound tailback is the No. 2 ranked RB in the transfer portal.
Last week, Texas signed Raleek Brown of Arizona State , who is No. 4 running back in the transfer portal. The combination of Brown and Smothers should give the Horns a much more formidable running game than they had in 2025. Texas had its worst running attack this season since the 1940s.
In addition, UT landed a commitment from elite Pitt Panthers linebacker Rasheem Biles . Biles spent the last two seasons in Pittsburgh and is the No. 1 LB in the portal according to On3 .
Biles had a great season for the Panthers, earning second-team All-ACC honors. The Ohio native had 101 tackles (17 for a loss), 4.5 sacks and scored three touchdowns, two from an interception and one a fumble return. The junior should be a walk-in started for new defensive coordinator Will Muschamp.
The Horns also added to its linebacker depth with the signing of Florida State LB Justin Cryer . Cryer started eight games this season. He led FSU linebackers with 43 tackles. He also recorded five tackles for loss and one sack and seven quarterback hurries.
Texas also got a commitment from LSU DL Zion Williams . A 6-fot-4, 295-pound former four-star out of Lufkin, TX the freshman didn't see the field in 2025 for the Tigers. Williams entered the portal after LSU coach Brian Kelly was fired.
Williams joins Arkansas transfer Ian Geffrard as defensive tackles signed during this transfer window. Geffrard is coming off a year with 25 tackles and a pass defended, and while that sounds modest, nose tackle isn't a position to rack up stats. He should be a solid replacement for Cole Brevard, who did a fantastic job as the anchor of the DL this season.
