Texas A&M lands commitment from Northwestern transfer defensive lineman

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko has secured another major addition to the future of his defensive front, landing a versatile, two-time Big Ten defensive end who has steadily elevated his game each season.

On Monday, Hayes Fawcett of On3Sports reported that Northwestern redshirt junior Anto Saka committed to Texas A&M. The former four-star prospect chose the Aggies over several other programs and arrives in College Station with one year of eligibility remaining.

Saka’s raw production may not jump off the page, but his traits absolutely do. At 6-foot-4 and 255 pounds, he brings the frame, athleticism, and versatility of a high-end edge defender, showing the ability to disrupt both the run and the pass.

This season, he posted 13 tackles, four tackles for loss, three sacks, and three forced fumbles, placing him among the most intriguing defensive ends in the portal. His 77.7 PFF overall grade, 82.5 pass-rush grade, and 65.0 run-defense grade further underscore how well-rounded he is at the position, with the game tape speaking for itself.

While the stat line only tells part of the story, Saka’s blend of size, burst, and developmental upside makes him an ideal fit for what Mike Elko and defensive ends coach Lyle Hemphill want off the edge. With the departure of All-American Cashius Howell and depth pieces Rylan Kennedy and Solomon Williams , Saka is expected to step in immediately and compete for significant snaps.
