Texas A&M’s Marcel Reed and Anto Saka speak after 10th spring practice
With the spring game only weeks away, Texas A&M is pushing through a crucial stretch of camp as the roster works to build on last year’s momentum while filling major gaps on both sides of the ball. Two players expected to anchor that effort are second‑year starting quarterback Marcel Reed and transfer edge rusher Anto Saka.
Reed returns after guiding the Aggies to an 11–2 season and their first College Football Playoff berth, showing clear growth in his first year as the full‑time starter. But he’s also focused on correcting his toughest moments. Against Texas and Miami, Reed went 45 of 61 for 417 yards with four interceptions, zero touchdowns, and eight sacks. He’s spent the spring sharpening decision‑making and command of the offense as A&M works to establish continuity around him.
Defensively, the Aggies are replacing significant production as several veterans pursue NFL opportunities. To stabilize the front, Mike Elko turned to the portal, landing Anto Saka, a proven, high‑motor edge presence already emerging as a leader in camp. His experience and versatility are expected to play a major role as the defense reshapes its identity.
As the spring game approaches, Reed and Saka represent the blend of returning talent and new additions Texas A&M will rely on to stay aligned and competitive heading into 2026.
