Can Texas A&M's Mario Craver become the SEC’s top receiver in 2026?

There are plenty of unknowns surrounding the Texas A&M Aggies as they head into the 2026 football season, but one thing feels certain. They return a pair of proven playmakers in quarterback Marcel Reed and wide receiver Mario Craver . With KC Concepcion off to the NFL, Craver now becomes the most experienced receiver on the roster and the focal point of the passing game.

Mike Elko and his staff identified Craver’s upside early. Even with limited snaps at Mississippi State , his explosiveness jumped off the tape, making him one of A&M’s top portal priorities. He validated that evaluation immediately. After opening last season with back‑to‑back 100‑yard performances, Craver erupted for 207 yards on seven catches and a touchdown against Notre Dame, showcasing the elite separation and run‑after‑catch ability that made him such a coveted addition.

Injuries slowed him as the year progressed, and he never fully returned to form until late. Still, he battled through nearly every game and remained a reliable target. By the time A&M reached the first round of the College Football Playoff, Craver looked close to 100% again, posting seven receptions for 92 yards.

As the Aggies enter 2026, he’ll be leaned on heavily while the staff sorts out the receiver rotation, establishes play‑calling rhythm, and most importantly figures out who will anchor the offensive line. It’s still early in spring practice, but offensive players have hinted that the scheme is trending toward a more pass‑centric approach this season. If that holds, Craver should see even more opportunities, giving him a legitimate chance to surpass last year’s 917 yards.

That naturally leads to the question. Could he actually lead the SEC in receiving?

The crew at SEC Unfiltered believes it’s possible. In a recent segment, they broke down why Craver might be the most dangerous returning wideout in the conference, citing his explosiveness, route polish, and the likelihood of increased volume in A&M’s evolving offense.
