Texas A&M's Mario Craver is ready to 'become a leader' in the WR room
Just two days before Christmas, it was revealed that two members of Texas A&M's 2025 roster, cornerback Will Lee III and wide receiver KC Concepcion , plan to enter the 2026 NFL Draft, which isn't surprising given their status, while Lee has run out of collegiate eligibility.
Concepcion, who was expected to leave after transferring from NC State this time last season, is on his way to potentially being selected in the first round after recording 61 receptions for 919 yards and nine touchdowns, paired with 1,450 all-purpose yards and two punt return touchdowns.
Becoming starting quarterback Marcel Reed's go-to No. 1 option in the passing game, returning for a final season was out of the cards, knowing his potential at the next level. With Conecpcion off to the NFL, Texas A&M's wide receiver corps will be led by Mario Craver , who, after transferring from Mississippi State last offseason, is by far the most electric playmaker in the SEC heading into the 2026 season.
Craver finished two yards shy, leading the Aggies through the air, reeling in 59 receptions for 917 and four touchdowns, and if Marcel Reed were more accurate against Miami in the first round of the CFP, Craver would have likely gone over the 100-yard mark with a touchdown.
Right now, Texas A&M's 2026 wide receiver rotation is led by Mario Craver , while Ashton Bethel-Roman, Terry Bussey , Izaiah Williams, and incoming freshmen Aaron Gregory, Madden Williams, and Mike Brown are the current names, barring any transfer departures or additions.
After Saturday's loss, Craver was asked about being the new leader in the WR room after signing his massive NIL deal to stay with the team, providing an answer that should excite every Aggie fan heading into next season.
"I'll a level head no matter what's going on. My teammates are going to be looking at me and how I react to every play. I'll stay level headed and become a leader."
With Marcel Reed returning, whoever head coach Mike Elko hires as the new quarterbacks coach will determine if the redshirt sophomore improves his passing mechanics, which is the only way forward after playing his worst football down the stretch of the season. However, knowing that Craver will come back is likely to aid Reed's further development.
