The Texas Tech football staff achieved enough by 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, to last all day — and maybe for the next five years.
On national signing day, Red Raiders coach Joey McGuire , general manager James Blanchard and their crew signed all 20 high-school recruits from whom they had commitments and did it, actually, by 8:30 a.m.
The class includes two players — offensive tackle Felix Ojo and edge defender LaDamion Guyton — who are ranked among the top 15 recruits in the nation on the 247Sports composite index. Frenship wide receiver Chase Campbell is rated a national top-100 prospect, and Prosper offensive tackle Bryce Gilmore a national top-200.
Tech's talent haul is ranked No. 19 overall and No. 1 in the Big 12 on the 247Sports composite, which reflects the consensus of its own evaluators and those of other recruiting services.

The Red Raiders hope a class that highly regarded can keep them on the current upswing. Tech is No. 4 in the College Football Playoff rankings and getting ready to play in the Big 12 championship game for the first time. The Red Raiders take on Brigham Young at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Tech appears done with high-school recruiting for this cycle. McGuire has said in the past week he expects 17 of the 20 newcomers to enroll and join the team in January. He indicated there are no other recruits his staff is still pursuing.
Tech is expected to be active again in the NCAA transfer portal, which will be open from Jan. 2-16. McGuire said Monday he will be looking to sign seven to 10 players from the portal.
