Former Chicago Cubs president Theo Epstein recounted the 2016 World Series run and the moves he made to get there. In a special interview with David Ross and Anthony Rizzo , he also revealed a never-told story about the Cubs' World Series Game 7 and what transpired beforehand.
Epstein explained that before Game 7, he took his son to a science museum and watched a video about Mars. Ultimately, that helped calm his nerves before their big showdown with the Cleveland Indians . In that series, the Cubs returned to Cleveland trailing the series 3-2. Then, they won both Games 6 and 7. The Cubs even endured a rain delay before eventually winning Game 7 in 10 innings.
Epstein has made a major mark on baseball over the last two decades, turning two franchises into champions. Recently, he helped the Cubs break a decades-long title drought. Prior to that, Epstein helped the Boston Red Sox win the 2004 and 2007 World Series. Currently, he serves as an adviser and continues to provide guidance to others managing teams.

Epstein continues to associate with the Red Sox , as the team attempts to rally from a bad start. Meanwhile, his old team, the Cubs, are thriving. They are currently 54-42 and occupy the top wildcard spot in the NL. Although the Cubs have not been consistent contenders, they also have not been constant failures, as they were prior to Epstein helping them overcome their hurdles. Epstein's success over two decades has inspired many, and he will continue to serve as part-owner of the Red Sox while attempting to help them get back to contention.
