The Oklahoma City Thunder saw their hopes of a title defense melt away in a heartbreaking 111-103 Game 7 loss to the San Antonio Spurs , but head coach Mark Daigneault knows his superstar left everything on the floor.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put the Thunder on his back, putting up an electric 35 points and nine assists in the do-or-die clash at Paycom Center. Despite playing short-handed without co-star Jalen Williams , who missed the game with a hamstring injury, the reigning NBA MVP single-handedly kept the Thunder within arm's reach of the Finals.
Following the emotional defeat, Daigneault offered nothing but glowing praise for his franchise cornerstone.
"He was brilliant, obviously, he had a great game," Daigneault told reporters. "It was a really big-time game from him."
Gilgeous-Alexander was a relentless force, scoring 19 first-half points and keeping the Thunder afloat when San Antonio threatened to blow the game open early. His dominance continued into the third quarter, where he reached 31 points to cut the Spurs' lead to 80-77.

Unfortunately for Oklahoma City , the supporting cast struggled to provide enough punch against a balanced San Antonio attack. Cason Wallace stepped up with 17 points, while Jared McCain and Alex Caruso chipped in 12 points apiece. Still, no other Thunder player cracked the 20-point mark. When Luke Kornet blocked an Isaiah Hartenstein transition attempt midway through the fourth, the Thunder missed their final real chance to swing momentum.
Rather than blaming injuries or pointing fingers, Daigneault focused on the sheer resilience of his squad and his leader. Gilgeous-Alexander proved exactly why he commands global respect, matching Western Conference finals MVP Victor Wembanyama blow for blow until the final buzzer. The Thunder fell just short of their ultimate goal, but SGA's spectacular Game 7 showcase reminded the basketball world that Oklahoma City 's championship window remains wide open.
