The Detroit Tigers completed a trade with American League Central rival Minnesota Twins Sunday, sending right-handed reliever Woo-Suk Go to Minnesota in exchange for cash considerations . Detroit did not receive a player in return. Go was not on the Tigers' 40-man roster, but an assignment clause in his contract obligates the Twins to add him to their roster, with his promotion expected before Tuesday's series opener against the Cleveland Guardians , where he is set to make his major league debut.
The 27-year-old signed a minor-league contract with Detroit in December after previously spending time in the San Diego Padres and Miami Marlins organizations. He opened the 2026 season with Double-A Erie before earning a promotion to Triple-A Toledo in May. Across 27 appearances this season, including one start, he compiled a 3-1 record with a 1.96 ERA. In 41⅓ innings, he recorded 54 strikeouts against 13 walks while allowing no home runs. His opponents also managed just a .239 batting average on balls in play.
Go spent seven seasons in the Korean Baseball Organization from 2017 through 2023 before moving to Major League Baseball ahead of the 2024 season on a two-year, $4.5 million contract with the Padres. He was later traded to the Marlins as part of the Luis Arraez deal before eventually joining the Tigers after being designated for assignment in 2025. Go also represented South Korea in this year's World Baseball Classic, pitching 3⅔ innings.

Detroit never promoted Go to the major leagues despite his impressive performance in Triple-A. The Tigers also announced that right-hander Luke Taggart was transferred from Double-A Erie to Triple-A Toledo following the trade.
For Minnesota, the acquisition provides another bullpen option for a relief corps that hasn't been at it's best so far this season. The Twins entered Sunday with a 44-47 record, tied with the Houston Astros and sitting two games behind an American League Wild Card position. Their bullpen has produced a 5.28 ERA along with a 19.9% strikeout rate, 11.5% walk rate and a 39.7% ground-ball rate, all ranking among the bottom 10 in the majors. Andrew Morris has been the team's only qualified reliever with an ERA below 4.00, logging a 3.04 expected ERA and a 17.1% strikeout-minus-walk rate over 40 innings.
