The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently in the early stages of the 2025-26 offseason, having lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the second round of the playoffs this year. The Timberwolves played that series without Donte DiVincenzo , who went down with a torn Achilles injury in the first round against the Denver Nuggets , a series that the Timberwolves still soldiered through and won.

Now, more information is coming to light on DiVincenzo’s recovery process, including some of the high-profile stars that the guard is turning to for support amid the tough times.

“DiVincenzo has spoken to (Jayson) Tatum , Tyrese Haliburton and Damian Lillard , all of whom have recently suffered the same injury, about their recoveries,” reported Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

“I just asked a million questions, and they’ve all helped me in different ways,” DiVincenzo said. “But all their journeys are different.”

Tatum, Haliburton, and Lillard all went down with Achilles tears during the 2025 NBA playoffs, with Tatum being the only one of them to return this season, coming back into the Boston Celtics ’ lineup in March and largely looking like the old version of himself by the time the season ended.

There is currently no timetable for DiVincenzo’s return, although it’s a safe bet that the guard will miss at least most, if not all, of the 2026-27 season due to the injury, which is widely viewed as one of the most devastating that a basketball player can suffer.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen what changes the Timberwolves make this summer, as the Spurs series made it clear they are still a tier or two below the cream of the crop in the vaunted Western Conference playoff picture.
