- 🍷 Timeless Modrić sets World Cup record to lift Croatia over Ghana
Croatia continues to be a neutral fan's delight this evening, after the 2018 World Cup finalist and two-time third-place nation posted a 2-1 win over Ghana to finish behind England in Group L.
And, as ever, Luka Modrić was at the centre of it all on a day where he featured for the 200th time for Kockasti .
The veteran midfield maestro remains among the most gifted players of his generation anywhere in the world, and an assist today from a corner on Nikola Vlasić's headed winner added another notch on a sash laden with honours.
Modrić's set-piece delivery, which was headed home by the Torino midfielder, sees the Zadar-born star become the oldest player (40 years, 291 days) to register an assist on the world's biggest stage.
And though Croatia suffered a heavy defeat against group-topping England, their experienced squad, headlined by Modrić, will undoubtedly still have something to say this summer.
