Titans met with a polished edge prospect at HBCU Legacy Bowl

Led by Mike Borgonzi and Robert Saleh, the Tennessee Titans have a large contingent at the NFL Scouting Combine this week, scouting some of the top prospects in college football. But over this past weekend, their scouts were busy making their rounds at the HBCU Legacy Bowl, getting an up-close view of some of the prospects who took part in the game.

The latest player to make his way onto their radar is another edge prospect with an interesting journey: Tennessee State edge James Stewart.

Stewart has taken a winding path to get to Tennessee State and now the HBCU All-Star game. Originally recruited to Memphis, he transferred to Middle Tennessee before settling in at Tennessee State, and that journey helped him develop into one of the top edge prospects in the HBCU ranks.

An experienced prospect, he has demonstrated the ability to transition to and thrive in multiple college systems, and he uses a combination of aggressiveness, versatility, and a polished skill set to make an impact. He is surprisingly refined and has shown the ability to both rush the passer and set a hard edge against the run, plus, with a special teams background, he could be a potential sleeper later in the draft.

Stewart was busy during the week leading up to the game, meeting with the Titans, Detroit Lions , Baltimore Ravens , and New York Jets during the showcase.
