Titans pick Pat Coogan in NFL draft. What to know about Indiana center
The Tennessee Titans selected Pat Coogan, a center out of Indiana , with the 194th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft on April 25.
The pick was an important one after the Titans cut starting center Lloyd Cushenberry III in the offseason.
Coogan, who spent his first three seasons at Notre Dame before transferring to Indiana, played in back-to-back national championship games. He won one with Indiana as Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza's center and lost to Ohio State while at Notre Dame.
Coogan also was teammate of the Titans' first first-round pick Carnell Tate at Marist High School in Chicago . Coogan received the news he'd been drafted in his childhood home.
"It's hard to put into words, having my family here and them getting to experience this moment with me," Coogan said. "That's what it's all about, right? This is the journey, this career, this path I'm on. It's never about just me. It's never about whatever accolades I've made or games I've won. Being able to bring them along on this journey, it means everything to me."
What Pat Coogan said about being Carnell Tate's high school teammate
Coogan said he and Tate used to drive together to morning workouts. They spent two seasons together at Marist before Tate transferred to IMG Academy.
"I'm super proud of Carnell," Coogan said. "There's a saying on the south side of Chicago, where me and him are from, 'There's nothing like it.' There's connections everywhere. It's funny how far that travels right now, to the NFL. I'm happy to be his teammate again."
What Pat Coogan said about playing with Cam Ward
"What a dynamic football player in an unbelievable town," Coogan said. "Everyone saw what he put on the field last season. I'm just excited to meet him, excited to get to work."
What Pat Coogan said about being drafted by the Tennessee Titans
"The waiting process is a unique experience," Coogan said. "It's a long day. I am just really blessed to be a Titan, blessed to be a part of the community and a part of this football team. Overly grateful for the opportunity."
