Tennessee Titans edge rusher Truman Jones didn't get to Harvard just because of his athletic abilities.
He got a degree in biomechanical engineering, which is no easy task. He definitely hasn't had an easy road to get to the Titans now.

He went undrafted and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023. After signing a three-year deal following the draft, he was eventually waived and signed to the Chiefs' practice squad.
He would be cut the next day.
Jones then joined the New England Patriots . He was on the practice squad at first, but then got elevated to the active roster for one game.
He stuck around with the Patriots for another year and was re-signed to the practice squad again. He played in one game in 2025 as well.
The Titans then needed reinforcements on the defensive line and signed Jones from the Patriots' practice squad. He got much more playing time, appearing in nine games and recording 1.5 sacks, 11 total tackles and two TFLs.

Jones has had another tough task with the Titans in learning Robert Saleh's 4-3 defense. After studying at one of the top colleges in the country, he's enjoyed just putting your hand in the dirt and blitzing the quarterback.
Jones shared at a recent press conference that the NFL has been very different from being a student at Harvard.
"I went to Harvard, so obviously think a lot, so I'm used to analyzing and processing a lot," Jones said. "Here, you put your hand in the ground, and you just have to go. There's a few things you can look at, and then you can react fast after that."
Jones was one of the surprises on the initial 53-man roster for the Titans. He had a solid preseason, with nine total tackles, 2.5 sacks and two TFLs.

The edge rusher even admitted that he was surprised to learn that he made the roster, given how much talent the Titans have on the defensive line. With guys like Jeffery Simmons , John Franklin-Myers and Jermaine Johnson , Jones was able to separate himself and make the team.
This is the first time that Jones has made the active roster of one of the NFL teams he's been with.
He has a unique opportunity to do something special with the Titans in this Saleh defense.
There have been plenty of underdog stories with the Titans this offseason, and Jones is slowly becoming another.
