The Kansas City Chiefs suffered their second straight loss in Week 8, falling to AFC West rivals Denver Broncos, 28-24. Making matters worse, Patrick Mahomes and company had the chance to win the contest but failed to capitalize on it.
Kansas City was at Denver's one-yard line with four seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Mahomes found wide receiver Rashee Rice in the middle of the end zone during the play, completing what would have been the game-winning touchdown.
Unfortunately, the touchdown was called back due to a false start from Chiefs right tackle Jaylon Moore. On the following play, Broncos defensive end Malcolm Roach sacked Mahomes to seal Denver's victory.
The officials' decision to call the false start on Moore drew plenty of criticism, with Mahomes' wife, Brittany Mahomes, expressing frustration and saying that it's the "weakest call" she has ever seen.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, meanwhile, said he didn't see Moore's false start.

NFL legend Tom Brady, however, has a different opinion . In his latest NFL power rankings, he addressed the Chiefs' loss and the controversial penalty that doomed them. According to him, the officials made the right call at the end.
"Two weeks ago, I had the Chiefs at No. 2 when they were unbeaten, and now they've dropped two straight. And this one in Denver kind of stings. K.C. had a lead going into the fourth and didn't score again," Brady stated.
"Over 100 yards in penalties will do that to you, and I hate pouring salt in the wound, but the knee flinched. The refs made the right call."
For what it's worth, while it's easy to blame Moore's penalty for the Chiefs' loss, the fact of the matter is that Kansas City committed a season-high 11 penalties for 105 yards.
Sure enough, the Chiefs will need to cut down on those penalties if they want to end their slump. The good news is that Kansas City returns home for Week 9 against the New York Jets. The team is undefeated at Arrowhead Stadium so far this campaign.
