Tom Brady on LeBron James NFL longevity potential
Brady speaking on The Tonight Show, addressed whether LeBron could have sustained a career similar to his own in the NFL.
"Hell yeah, I'd take him. Him and Gronk on the same team. I don't know if he would have lasted 23 years playing LeBron.
"He actually could have lasted 23 years. He's on 20-21 [23 years] now in the NBA. He's ridiculous," Brady said.
Brady's answer reflects both admiration and realism, acknowledging LeBron's durability while also pointing to the different physical demands of football.

The comparison is not straightforward, but it highlights how rare it is for any athlete to sustain elite performance for two decades.

Brady also used the moment to highlight what sets LeBron apart beyond just physical ability.
"I've always looked up to him. How he's handled himself on the court and off the court. He's another guy that like the Derek Jeter; he just elevates himself above everybody else," Brady added.
The comparison to Derek Jeter underlines the broader point: longevity is not just about performance, but consistency in behaviour and professionalism.

For Brady, that combination is what allows athletes to extend their careers well beyond the norm. It also explains why LeBron remains part of these conversations, even when the question moves outside basketball.
