BEREA ― The Browns were awarded one player off waivers a day after their initial cutdown to the 53-man roster limit .
Former Buffalo Bills defensive back Toriano Pride was claimed by the Browns by the 1 p.m. Aug. 31 deadline . To make room for Pride, they're waiving defensive end Julian Okwara from their initial 53.
Those moves were part of several the Browns made a day after the initial roster deadline. They also re-signed 10 players they had waived to the practice squad after all had gone unclaimed off waivers.

Pride played 129 combined snaps for Buffalo this preseason. He primarily played cornerback, a position of need for the Browns.
Of his 100 defensive snaps in the preseason, per Pro Football Focus, they were nearly evenly divided between wide and slot corner. He played 48 snaps in the slot and 46 out wide.
"Well, we practiced against him and really liked the way he played and covered and competed, and we're always trying to upgrade the roster," Browns coach Todd Monken said of Pride. "He just kind of happened to fit that as we looked at it. After we got done practicing with them, his name came up: 'Should he be a 53 casualty, would we have interest?' And the answer was yes."
Pride was a seventh-round pick of the Bills in April. He played two seasons at the University of Missouri after having spent two seasons at Clemson University, amassing five interceptions.
