Mikey Moore played 72 minutes as 1. FC Köln produced an emphatic 5-0 victory over Union Berlin in the second round of the German Cup. The Tottenham Hotspur winger started Tuesday's tie as Köln responded to a difficult spell in the Bundesliga by securing a place in the DFB-Pokal last 16.
Highly impressive winger Said El Mala scored twice, with Linton Maina, Ísak Jóhannesson and Sebastian Sebulonsen also on target. Moore was substituted with his side leading 3-0.

German outlet Express gave Moore a 3/6 for his display, calling it one of his better performances for Köln. German player ratings generally use a scale where 1 is the highest grade and 6 the lowest. The publication said Moore played with energy and combined more effectively with Maina and El Mala. However, they also felt he lacked authority in some individual duels and was less influential than his two attacking teammates.
Mikey Moore joined Tottenham's academy aged seven and progressed through the ranks before making his Premier League debut against Manchester City in May 2024. Aged 16, he became Spurs' youngest player to feature in the competition. The winger scored his first competitive senior goal against Elfsborg during Tottenham's Europa League-winning campaign the following season.
Moore spent 2025/26 on loan at Rangers, scoring seven goals in 47 appearances and winning the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award. Moore joined Köln on loan from Tottenham in the summer, giving the teenager a chance to gain regular experience in one of Europe's major leagues.
The 19-year-old made six Bundesliga appearances before the cup tie, starting four. He was still waiting for his first league goal or assist for the German club. The move followed a productive loan spell at Rangers last season, where Moore scored seven league goals and provided three assists.

Moore returned to Tottenham's squad for their summer tour of New Zealand and Australia, starting the 2-0 victory over Auckland FC. After the tour, the winger impressed against Hoffenheim in north London, scoring twice in a 3-0 friendly win, with Mathys Tel providing both assists.
After his loan move, his time at Köln gives Tottenham a chance to monitor his development against Bundesliga opposition, a league known for its pace, physicality, and similarity to the Premier League. The hope is that this loan will provide the experience needed to become a regular in North London, something Tottenham fans and the player himself want to see.
Köln face Union Berlin again on Sunday, 1 November, this time away from home in the Bundesliga.
