Notre Dame football 's defense was once again a very bright area for the team on Sunday against Wisconsin . It allowed just 13 points and 284 yards, many with the game already in hand.
On Monday, Pro Football Focus released its game grades for the Irish , and a transfer stood atop of the list: defensive tackle Francis Brewu . While he lost the starting job out of camp to Armel Mukam , his impact was massive.
Playing 28 snaps, he recorded three tackles, a sack and three quarterback hurries. He earned a 90.5 grade from PFF as shared by BlueandGold.com . After spending his first two seasons with Pittsburgh , the 6-foot, 1-inch and 285-pounder transferred during the offseason. His signing was viewed as a massive win in the portal for Notre Dame , and he showed why he was so coveted during his first appearance in the Blue and Gold.
While Mukam didn't play poorly, Brewu outplayed him and could be the starter going forward. Regardless of who is out there for the first snap, the Irish have great depth at the position, which presents a problem for any offense.
