Six years ago, Exequiel Palacios moved from River Plate to Bayer Leverkusen for €17 million and, among other things, won the domestic double in 2024. Now, the attacking player is reportedly on the verge of a move to Premier League side Ipswich Town. Florian Plettenberg and Fabrizio Romano are both reporting this.
According to the reports, the Werkself are set to receive €22.5 million for the Argentine World Cup winner. Including bonuses, the fee could rise to €27.5 million. Plettenberg even reports a figure of €30 million. In addition, Leverkusen will receive a 10 percent sell-on clause. The medical is scheduled to take place on Thursday.
At the newly promoted Premier League club, Palacios is expected to sign a contract until 2030.
For the third time in the club's history, Bayer Leverkusen would therefore likely break the €100 million mark in transfer income. That previously happened in 2020/21 (€111 million) and 2025/26 (€230.95 million). This season, the club's most expensive departures so far are Piero Hincapié (€40 million to Arsenal ) and Kerim Alajbegovic (€32 million to Juve). Palacios would slot in behind them.
