Trevor Bauer fires back at haters with subtle shot after no-hitter appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
The Long Island Ducks took to the field for a doubleheader on Sunday, with Trevor Bauer hitting the mound for his second start with the team. Bauer's first start saw him struggle in his first outing in the United States since his release from the Los Angeles Dodgers .
In his second outing, he was dominant. Bauer threw a no-hitter and, after the game, threw some shade at his haters .
" Trevor Bauer sucks so much. He's so washed," Bauer posted on his X account, formerly Twitter.
Bauer was on the field for game one of the doubleheader against the Lancaster Stormers at Penn Medicine Park. He threw 84 pitches, striking out seven batters and issuing just one walk, costing him the perfect game. It was just a seven-inning affair for Bauer, as doubleheader games are only seven innings long in the Atlantic League.
It was also the third no-hitter in Ducks history. While Bauer had a nice performance, his focus is still on returning to MLB. This is also not the first time he has fired at haters on his X account .
"So, since Pete is welcome back now, does that go for everyone who has been blackballed?" Bauer asked on X. "Or do you actually have to be guilty of something to qualify for that?"
Bauer was accused of sexual assault in 2021, initially being placed on administrative leave, and then suspended by MLB. This would lead to the Dodgers releasing him, and Bauer never pitching in the Majors again. Since his ban, the former Cy Young winner has been clear that he feels he has been blackballed by the league, and he believes he still has the stuff to compete at the top. One AL scout in attendance for his first start seems to agree .
"He showed flashes of the guy he used to be and a guy who can help a club. He went out and handled himself well. He showed flashes of the breaking ball he had in the past. Certainly the velocity is not what it once was, but it's still solid, mostly 92-94," the scout said. "You'd expect him to get sharper and probably tick up in velocity. You're talking about a guy who was at the top of the game. Is he back there? No, but he looked like a guy who could go out and compete."
After his no-hitter, Bauer is hoping to get one more chance to compete at the major league level.
