Tsung-Che Cheng laid down a bunt for the Boston Red Sox with runners on first-and-third on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays .
Twice, the ball appeared to turn and roll toward foul territory. Twice, it then changed its mind.
It almost looked like sorcery as the baseball rolled along the foul line.
In the end, catcher Nick Fortes picked it up while the ball was on the line. Fair ball.
Jarren Duran had raced by to score. Carlos Narvaez advanced to second. Cheng was safe at first base with an RBI bunt single.

Cheng has had a great start to his Red Sox career of late, and this was the kind of play where when things are going well, they're going very well.
It also was proof of the way things are going for Boston in general lately. This was a six-run sixth inning for the Red Sox to open up a 9-0 lead.
The Red Sox went into the All-Star Break on a nine-game winning streak. Amazingly, they took a 10-game win streak into the break a season ago.
The time off certainly didn't slow Boston down.
And sometimes, things are just going well. They certainly are for Cheng, and for all the Red Sox right now.
