Twins acquire minor league pitcher Garrett Acton from Marlins

The Twins acquired right-handed pitcher Garrett Acton from the Miami Marlins on Thursday in exchange for minor league right-hander Logan Whitaker, the team announced.

Acton, 28, has been pitching for Miami’s Class AAA affiliate, Jacksonville, with 2 1/3 scoreless innings this season. He spent most of 2025 in Class AAA for Tampa Bay , where he was 5-1 with a 3.68 ERA and three saves in 45 games, making four starts.

The Twins announced that Acton will join the Class AAA team in St. Paul.

Whitaker, 25, was a 19th-round draft pick by Minnesota in 2024 out of North Carolina State. In parts of two minor league seasons, he was 4-0 with a 2.13 ERA in 27 games.

The Twins also transferred right-hander David Festa to the 60-day injured list as he deals with a right shoulder impingement.
