The Minnesota Twins have nine games remaining in the 2026 season. At 71-82, there is little reason for Derek Shelton's squad to care the rest of the way out. They lost rookie shortstop Kaelen Culpepper to a hamstring injury recently, and now they are down another outfielder as well.
Trevor Larnach was a surprise tender candidate this offseason, but proved valuable in the first half batting .289 with an .830 OPS . He then cratered the rest of the way, and his season is now over.
Trevor Larnach placed on IL by Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins have hoped to see more from former 20th overall pick (2018) for years. This season finally looked like he had turned a corner, but things ended up being more of the same down the stretch. His wrist flared up recently, and now his career in Minnesota may have come to an end.
Twins placed Trevor Larnach (wrist) on the injured list and called up Alan Roden from Triple-A St. Paul.Larnach's season is likely over. Roden returns to the majors three weeks after being optioned to Triple-A.

After missing the past few games, the Twins decided there was no reason to continue keeping Larnach on the active roster. He was placed on the injured list and will finish the season batting .269 with a .788 OPS . It's hardly the heights he reached this season, but his 121 OPS+ is still a career-high.
Despite being buyers at the trade deadline, Minnesota had a deal in place to ship Larnach out. That's not a surprising revelation considering the emergence of young talent in the form of Walker Jenkins and Emmanuel Rodriguez . Both have now reached the major leagues, and will remain rookies next season.
Ultimately, given the bubble Larnach was on this winter, it's unlikely he gets a new deal with the MN Twins in 2027. If this is it, he'll have played six seasons with the franchise that made him a first round pick. In 564 games, he batted .247 with a .739 OPS and his paltry 65 home runs are indicative of a power bat that never came to fruition.
Alan Roden gets another short stint to show something of substance with the big league club. He was a throw-in talent for the Louie Varland trade , but has batted just .212 with a .586 OPS across 83 big league games. Although he had an .853 OPS in 48 Triple-A games this season, he's still trying to figure it out at the highest level.
