Twitter reacts to journeyman WR Michael Bandy scoring first NFL TD
The Denver Broncos took one quarter to get started on offense before finally scoring their first points against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. The first score of the Broncos ' day was a quick pass from quarterback Bo Nix to wide receiver Michael Bandy , to secure the first lead of the day, at 7-6. Seems simple enough, right?
It's not. The 28-year-old Bandy, now in his fifth season, came onto the active roster on Saturday, being elevated from the practice squad in relief of rookie wide receiver Pat Bryant , who missed the game due to a hamstring injury. Bandy only played two snaps on Sunday, one of which was the touchdown catch from Nix, which was the first touchdown of his five-year career to date. According to Bandy's teammates, this moment was much deserved.
“He's not really behind the scenes much at practice, man," said offensive lineman Mike McGlinchey . "You watch Mike Bandy just make plays all day long. Whether it’s the scout team, whether it’s the offense, whatever. He dices people up out there, and really cool to see him punch one in today. Bandy is one of the best people on the football team, and he continues to just grind every day for an opportunity like that. He just punched it home for us in a big moment that we needed and started kind of the run that we had today offensively.”
Broncos Twitter was buzzing after Bandy's first career touchdown. Check out what they said below:
“That was awesome to see, especially getting us going like that and having the first one of the day,” Nix said of Bandy's score after the game.
Up next on Denver's schedule is a home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16.
