Wednesday's training camp practice for the New England Patriots was closed to the public. Granted, it was a walkthrough practice without competitive team drills, but there were still notable observations to take away from Day 10 of training camp.
One major observation was the fact that rookie cornerbacks Karon Prunty and Channing Canada worked with the top unit during practice, via Boston Herald's Andrew Callahan .
The Patriots have had to turn to their reserve unit with Carlton Davis III currently out with an injury. There has been no clear timetable for a return, opening up opportunities for some of the younger players to step up in the defensive backfield
Prunty and Canada have both answered the call.
In recent practices, Prunty picked off backup quarterback Tommy DeVito and batted down a pass from Drake Maye while covering star wide receiver A.J. Brown . Canada has also flashed sticky coverage in the competitive team periods at practice.
Prunty is a fifth-round draft pick out of Wake Forest, and Canada is an undrafted rookie out of TCU. Both have battled and clearly moved up the depth chart through 10 training camp practices.
