Eagles draft Uar Bernard

When the Philadelphia Eagles selected Jordan Mailata in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft, they weren't drafting production. They were drafting a possibility. Years later, that possibility became one of the league's premier offensive tackles. Now, Philadelphia is asking a familiar question again. Can Uar Bernard follow that same path? It seems they don't have to start from scratch as the blueprint already exists.
Selected late in the 2026 NFL Draft as one of Philadelphia's final two picks through the International Player Pathway program , Bernard arrives as one of the most intriguing prospects in this class. At over 300 pounds with rare athletic testing numbers, his physical traits alone demand attention, but it's not just the measurables. It's the journey.

Bernard's path to the NFL has been anything but traditional. Growing up in Nigeria and transitioning into football only a few years ago, he represents the kind of raw, untapped talent that teams rarely get the chance to develop from the ground up. That lack of experience shows up on tape, but so does the upside, and he knows exactly who to look to for guidance.
Uar Bernard needs only to follow Jordan Mailata's proven path.
Bernard has already identified Mailata as a role model. He sees the Eagles ' left tackle as a reminder that the path from project to cornerstone isn't just possible in Philadelphia.
The Eagles have built a reputation for developing players with elite traits, particularly in the trenches, where patience and coaching can turn raw ability into dominance. That doesn't guarantee anything. Mailata's rise is the exception, not the rule. For every success story, there are countless projects that never fully materialize. Bernard will need time, discipline, and refinement to even approach that level.

But the Eagles aren't drafting him for what he is today.
They're drafting him for what he might become. They're betting that their system can help him get there. If Bernard embraces the process the way Mailata once did, this won't just be another late-round flier. It could be the next chapter in one of the NFL's most fascinating development stories, and you can best believe Eagles fans will certainly be cheering him on.
