When you're surveying your new copy of EA Sports' College Football 27 game when the game drops early next month, the speed rating will be one of the categories you look over when checking out the roster's overall ratings.
The UCLA Bruins may have had just one player rated a 90 overall or higher, but UCLA is one of only three schools to have a player with 99 speed. Bruins ' cornerback Rodrick Pleasant was given a 99 speed rating, making him one of the more tantalizing secondary pieces in the game.
Pleasant is entering his redshirt junior season, his second with the Bruins, and he looks like he's poised to break out in new UCLA defensive coordinator, Colin Hitschler's, new scheme. In 2025, Pleasant was named an All-Big Ten Conference Honorable Mention after starting in 10 games for the Bruins.
The season ended on a down note, with Pleasant missing the final two games of the season due to an injury but the Gardena, California native has game-breaking speed. Pleasant was a four-star recruit for the Oregon Ducks , who saw Pleasant transfer out to UCLA after two seasons.
Oregon wide receiver Gatlin Bair and South Carolina wideout Nyck Harbor are the only other two 99 speed players in the game, making Pleasant the fastest defensive player in the game on launch date.
Raves about Pleasant's speed are nothing new, 247 Sports' National Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggins said that Pleasant was "arguably the fastest player in the '23 class" back when Pleasant was still in high school back in 2022.
The best part of video games is that, if you're so inclined, you can make Pleasant become your kickoff returner, or if you get real wild, and even flip what side of the ball he plays, and give the speedster reps on offense.
