The USMNT went into Friday's World Cup match against Australia with momentum and pressure. After beating Paraguay 4-1 in their opener, expectations were high for the second round of Group D.
The fixture also brought a test for the American crowd, as US soccer audiences are sometimes criticised for watching more than supporting.
Still, Seattle Stadium sounded ready for a major occasion, with a British journalist covering the match for BBC Sport praising the stadium and the noise created by both sets of supporters.

During BBC Sport's live coverage, Gary Rose wrote: "I've been to three stadiums now at this World Cup and the Seattle Stadium is undoubtedly my favourite for atmosphere.
"It looks impressive – as pretty much all of them here do – but also feels like a proper football ground and the design of the stadium means the acoustics are excellent."
The praise continued with a direct mention of the home support, as he added: "The USA fans have been relentless in their noisy support while the gathering of Australia supporters grouped together behind their goal also ensures they are making plenty of noise."
The atmosphere matched the occasion, since both teams had won their openers, which means the winner would take full control of Group D.
In Seattle, it is not only about the noise from the stands. The city also carries a curious record for the USMNT.
According to Opta, the United States have won all six competitive matches they have played there.
That equals their best 100% record in competitive matches in any place, matching Arlington, Texas.
