UNC basketball already showing interest in guard in transfer portal
The transfer portal is officially open following the conclusion of the 2025-26 college basketball. While the portal isn't open as long as in previous years, it's still an active time. As visits are permitted starting this Friday, there is already reports of interest from players and schools.
For North Carolina, they are in a new spot. They just hired Michael Malone to be their next head coach and now the work begins for him. While he doesn't have a staff yet, general manager Jim Tanner has been at work in terms of the portal. And now, we know at least one player they are showing interest in.
Per a report , North Carolina is among the teams already reaching out to Utah guard Terrence Brown Jr. as the portal opened on Tuesday. Brown Jr. has a long list of suitors showing interest:
Last season at Utah, Brown Jr. averaged 19.9 points, 3.8 assists, and shot 45 percent from the field, including 33 percent from the three-point line.
North Carolina has a need for multiple guards as they are losing some to the portal already. Let's see how much momentum they can build up with Brown Jr.
