Rickea Jackson, who arrived in the Windy City via trade in the offseason, got off to a hot start with the Chicago Sky this season. In their first three games, she averaged career highs of 22.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 blocks.
Unfortunately, during the Sky's game against the Minnesota Lynx on May 17, she injured her left knee. Days later, Chicago revealed that Jackson " underwent an MRI that revealed a left torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)." She was then ruled out for the rest of the season and eventually underwent surgery a month later to repair it.

As Jackson continues her recovery , it has been revealed that she is going to be part of the fast-rising 3-on-3 league Unrivaled for years to come. In fact, she has a multi-year deal with the tournament.

However, those hoping to see her in the upcoming season of the tournament will be disappointed. In its announcement, Unrivaled revealed that Jackson won't be playing in 2027 because of her injury.
"Rickea Jackson is Unrivaled," the league posted on social media. "She will miss the 2027 season due to injury and is expected to return in season four as part of her multi-year deal. Get well soon, Rickea."

Jackson played in the first two seasons of Unrivaled. She was part of Mist BC in the inaugural season and played for Breeze BC in her second year.
Similar to previous years, the 2027 season of Unrivaled is expected to start in January. That will put Jackson's recovery at around seven months.
According to Cleveland Clinic, recovery for a torn ACL usually takes six to nine months. However, since Jackson still needs to rehab her injured knee and make sure she's ready for game action, it's only natural for her to take her time.

While Jackson won't be available in Unrivaled in 2027, she is expected to be ready for the start of the 2027 WNBA season with the Sky.
