- USD at SDSU: A week's worth of coverage for the big rivalry game
Oct. 26—BROOKINGS — South Dakota visits South Dakota State this week, and this is about as big as the in-state rivalry game has ever been.
Yeah, there was the 2023 game, where SDSU was ranked No. 1 and USD was No. 4, a year in which both teams beat North Dakota State, but as it would turn out, the Jackrabbits were just way better than everyone that year. The much-ballyhooed clash was a dud, as SDSU won 37-3 in Vermillion.

This year the teams aren't ranked as high as they were in '23, but they're more evenly matched, and both are on the very short list of teams that can actually win the FCS title this year.
USD (7-2) is coming off a huge overtime win over UND, another team on that short list, while SDSU (6-2) rebounded from a road loss to UND with a get-right win over Murray State.
The Yotes have never won at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. The Jacks want payback for last year. The winner has a leg-up on a high seed in the playoffs, while the loser is looking at a few road trips in December.
All of which is to say, yeah, this is huge. And the Forum Communications crew (Sioux Falls Live, Mitchell Republic and Midwest Sports Plus) is going to be all over it.

We'll have stories, videos, podcasts and shows every day this week, and Saturday morning at 10 a.m. we'll have a live pregame show from Dykhouse Stadium, plus a stop by the Jackrabbit Illustrated trick-or-treat tailgate after that.
All Jacks. All Yotes. All week.
And you can find all of the content here on this page. There's already a few stories up, and there will be more to come every day this week, so keep coming back to this page so you don't miss any of it.
It's gonna be a fun week and a fun game.
