UTEP legend Tim Hardaway signs copies of his new book in El Paso

Tim Hardaway was back on familiar territory in El Paso.

The legendary former point guard for the UTEP Miners and NBA All-Star, which included stints with Golden State and Miami , spent time on Saturday, March 28, at the Starlight Event Center signing his autobiography, "Killer Crossover: My Life From The Chicago streets To Basketball Royalty." The book is available nationwide.

Hardaway spent two hours talking and taking selfies with fans, some of whom wore Hardaway's Miami Heat or Golden State Warriors jerseys with the No. 10.

"It feels great to be back in El Paso," said Hardaway, "I love the people here in El Paso. Being here in El Pasop helped me grow as a person. I learned about patience and understanding."

Hardaway played for the Miners from 1985-1989 with other great UTEP players such as Jeep Jackson, Antonio Davis and Greg Foster.

Hardaway also was fortunate to be mentored for a time at UTEP by former UTEP and NBA guard, Nate "Tiny" Archibald, who helped in giving Hardaway added confidence.

"When Tim Hardaway came back for the funeral of (coach) Don Haskins, that showed a great deal of respect on his part," UTEP fan Carlos Santos said. "He was a great player for many years and it was great to see him back in El Paso."
