The Vancouver Canucks have signed defenceman Zeev Buium to an eight-year extension worth $75.04 million. The new deal carries an AAV of $9.38 million and will expire during the 2035 off-season. Buium is in the final year of his entry-level contract, with the extension beginning during the 2027-28 season.
In a press release, General Manager Ryan Johnson wrote, "Zeev has settled in nicely with our organization since his trade to Vancouver last season, and we are extremely happy to see him make this long-term commitment to the Canucks. He is a key member of our young core and a player we will build around moving forward. Zeev has a lot of upside, and we feel with his abilities he will flourish in the system and environment we are creating inside our locker room. We look forward to working together and creating a strong partnership and foundation for our future."

Buium was the centrepiece of the Quinn Hughes trade last year. The 20-year-old recorded 12 points in 45 games with Vancouver while averaging 20:21 of ice time. Over his career, Buium has recorded 26 points in 76 games, along with one assist in four playoff games.
