The Baltimore Ravens' Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals has left fans questioning the team's defensive struggles. Cornerback Marlon Humphrey has admitted that something needs to change, and candidly described the loss as "embarrassing" while reflecting on the team's recent performances.
Baltimore suffered a stunning 35-13 home defeat after taking a 13-0 halftime lead. The Bengals responded with 35 unanswered points, exposing the Ravens' defensive issues.
On "The Marlon Humphrey Show," Humphrey acknowledged his mistakes in the loss.
"Yesterday, that was, you know, not the case. I had three crucial missed tackles that really led to four yards. But it was just embarrassing, man. We got a bad little trend going on that it's a good time to get fixed," Humphrey said, reflecting on his mistakes.
The Ravens need to address their defensive issues before they cause any more damage to their season. The loss against Cincinnati showed how quickly the momentum can shift when the defense struggles to contain an opponent.
Marlon Humphrey Looks Ahead After Taking Accountability for Ravens' Defensive Struggles
Despite the setback, Humphrey wants the team to move forward and focus on correcting its mistakes rather than dwelling on the defeat.
"So I've never really wanted to flip the page much more than this," he said, emphasizing his desire to leave the disappointing performance behind.
He also said he'd approach the next chapter differently, adding that the team would turn the page and "write a whole new chapter."
Before the Week 7 matchup, the Ravens cornerback also drew criticism for remarks about facing Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, saying, "It would be cool if I didn't match up with him so much."
However, the Bengals loss has shifted the focus toward Baltimore's broader defensive concerns. Humphrey's willingness to acknowledge his missed tackles shows he is taking accountability, but that alone is not enough. The Ravens will also need a collective response to prevent a similar collapse.
As the team looks to put the defeat behind it, the priority will be to correct the troubling trend and find a way to deliver more consistent performances moving forward.
Next, the Ravens will face off against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
