Vermont basketball offseason tracker: Loyola Chicago guard commits to Catamounts

Vermont basketball 's 2025-26 season came to an end in a loss to UMBC in the America East Conference championship game last month . And with the transfer portal officially opening on Tuesday, April 7, offseason news has started to heat up for the Catamounts.

TJ Hurley, the league's player of the year this winter, and TJ Long, the leading scorer on Vermont's 2024 NCAA Tournament squad, are the most notable seniors to graduate from the program. But in this current era of college basketball and NIL, players are on the move at an exponential rate across the country.

Loyola Chicago guard to transfer to Vermont

Daniil Glazkov, a 6-foot-6 guard who spent the past two seasons with Loyola Chicago, is headed to Vermont, according to DraftExpress' Jon Chepkevich . This past season, the Russian averaged 2.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game in 26 appearances that included a pair of starts for the Ramblers. Glazkov committed to the Catamounts on Friday, May 8.

Prior to Loyola Chicago, Glazkov was a four-star and top-70 recruit (On3) and top-25 shooting guard (247 Sports) who played for IMG Academy in Florida, where he averaged 16.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game as a senior. In Russia, Glazkov played for the Lokomotiv Kuban Youth Team.

South Alabama guard commits to Vermont

South Alabama's John Broom has committed to join the Catamounts, PortalUpdates reported on its Twitter page on Thursday, April 30.

Broom, a 6-foot-5, 185-pound guard, has two years of eligibility remaining. This past year at South Alabama, Broom averaged 2.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in 31 appearances. As a freshman, Broom started all 32 games and averaged 5.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting 44% from the floor and leading South Alabama in steals.

Vermont gets another commitment from St. Anselm player

Ontario native Hayden Johns announced on his Instagram page on Sunday, April 26, that he has committed to join the Catamounts, making him the second player this offseason from St. Anselm headed to Vermont. St. Anselm is currently coached by Chris Santo, a former UVM assistant.

At St. Anselm, the 6-foot-6 Johns appeared in nine games and averaged 10.9 points per game. Injury cut short Johns' freshman year in December .
