- Vikings Announce that a Veteran O-Lineman Got Axed

Tough day for depth offensive lineman Trevor Keegan, who is now looking for work.
Per the Minnesota Vikings' official social media (but reported by Jordan Schultz beforehand ), the depth guard has been cut from the 53-man roster. So, too, did Nolan Teasley do a bit more roster shuffling by subtracting tight end Bryson Nesbit, a practice squad talent who had just been re-signed last week .
Quite possibly, the practice squad spot will quickly get filled by Keegan, who has been in Minnesota for all of 2026. Who is going to fill the open spot on the 53?
The possibility exists that Minnesota has an in-house option for the open roster spot. Admittedly, that's not the most inspiring possibility, but it's a possibility. The name to watch here would be for depth guard/center Nick Samac.
Or, perhaps, there's a promotion that's set to take place.
Consider a plausible theory from VT's Sean Borman : " Trevor Keegan isn't a vested veteran so he'll hit the waiver wire. Could be back on the PS if he isn't claimed. Expecting this to clear the path for DeeJay Dallas being added to the 53-man roster. Dallas is out of standard practice squad elevations."
Borman's theory is quite reasonable. Likely, even. Dallas, a depth runner, can get leaned on for terrific special teams work alongside physical pass pro reps. Something to be said for that out of an RB3 or RB4.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (56) tackles Minnesota Vikings running back DeeJay Dallas during the second quarter of their game Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
But then there's the potential for fireworks: a trade addition (which is to say nothing of signing a current free agent).
Currently, there are no shortage of trade possibilities surrounding the Minnesota Vikings. Perhaps the top name circulating in the online dot connecting is Kirk Cousins, a well-paid passer in the Twin Cities from 2018 to 2023. He has since flopped in Atlanta (2024 to 2025) before sparkling in Sin City (2026).
Do note, though, that there are a pile of other possibilities out there ( check 'em out ).
In the NFL, the math always means doing a -1 for every +1. Adding a new player to the 53-man roster — whether via a return from the IR, off the PS, or from the trade market — means subtracting a player.
